How an organization defines Human Resources will likely also define the role it plays in an organization. The Society for Human Resource Managers defines Human Resources as “the function of dealing with the management of people employed within the organization”.
Our personal definition:
Human Resources is the art and science of employment law compliance, maximizing your team’s accomplishments today and realizing future performance potential.
It is from the vantage point that this definition provides that Employer’s Guardian performs a Human Resources assessment.
This is an unwieldy definition to be used as a point of reference as it stands. Breaking this broad concept into components will define what a comprehensive Human Resources Program can provide and allow an organization to make comparisons to its current HR program.
Providing an analysis of any organizations Human Resources systems, policies, practices and support can be very subjective. It is a comparison of what an organization currently has in place measured against the standard held by the individual performing the analysis.
